So President Jonathan Lied?

Who are the President's speech writers? How can they be so careless as to make false declarations that Nigeria's ranking as supposedly stated by Transparency International which they vehemently denied, and the Anti Corruption Drive have improved? Do they think that Nigerians are uninformed people? How could they make the country and the president look so foolish? And how could the president take all that, arms folded?
And to add insult to injury the presidency said they got and read about the upgrade in one of Nigeria's newspapers .
Running on that idea, sometimes, it is so disheartening to watch President Jonathan represent Nigeria. Standing amongst his equals he seems so timid and unsure of himself, and I blame the office in charge of grooming the president. All world leaders go through essential training in communication and public relations, and it is
clear that ours has no training whatsoever.

The president's speechwriters are simply lazy. I wonder how he can make himself so helpless to them. The only fact to that speech that I agree with is that the provision of electricity has improved, and I commend the government and Barth Nnaji for that.

In conclusion, the president should fire his speechwriting staff. If not to save his face, then to prevent such a national embarrassment from taking place again.

Shooting of Innocent Students

There has been a tragic killing of over twenty undergraduate student at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi in Adamawa state this morning. Scores of people were also injured.

It is alleged that hours after the incident took place the police were no where to be seen. It is not yet clear who carried out the shooting, as all fingers are pointing to Boko Haram.

Last week security personal raided and arrested over a hundred and fifty of the dreaded sect. Meanwhile, The leader, Mallam Shekau posted a warning on YouTube that he will now go after emirs and wives of northern politicians.

Spiting on Nigerian Women in Saudi Arabia

Oh it pains my heart to read about how Saudi officials humiliate and spit on our female pilgrims in Saudi Arabia!

I wonder what our Saudi ambassador is doing, I will not be surprised if the Federal Govt. will wait till God knows when to, as usual, set up a committee to look into the spitting, and I predict the committee will be named spitting committee shame big shame!!!

Amirul Hajj Must Take Responsibility

Over a thousand female pilgrims have been deported from Saudi Arabia for not traveling accompanied.

Saudi law requires that females travel accompanied by males. Nigerian Muslims know this. Why did these females not comply with Saudi law? if they are obedient Muslims why did they not obey the law of the Holy Land? It most certainly isn't the fault of the Saudi officials, who should only be concerned with internal issues. The Amirul hajj of Nigeria should accept responsibility for the mistake and rectify the issue. He should make sure that Nigerians respect and comply with all laws concerning religious issues. The Sultan as the spiritual head should have also tutored his people on Saudi Law. Whatever the case, Nigerians need to stop disgracing their country and be more responsible travelers.

Shootings at Uni Jos Campus

Reports state that there as shootings have taken place in the University of Jos. Two students reported dead. Other students overpowered the shooters. Details still a bit sketchy. I'll keep you posted on what happens.

Let's Pray for Madam Jonathan

Let us keep our first lady in prayers as she might be battling with a very serious ailment: Parkinson's disease.

My advise to the first family is to come out with the truth. Nigerians will sympathize with the Jonathans. History has taught us that governments should always come out with the truth to its citizens first. We are all human beings and we all fall sick. This can happen to anyone. I hope Mrs Jonathan gets better, and I hope she uses this as a platform to reach out to other Nigerians suffering from this. Get well soon, madam.

Bakassi Palavar

It beats me, and I am worried when I hear Sen. Ita-Giwa ranting about "my Bakassi people."

I am an ardent follower of events and history and I remember during the heat of the Bakassi issue, Ita Giwa was a senator and theatafter an advisor to Gen. Obasanjo. If she could not do anything then why now? We also remember vividly that she was with the delegation that accompanied Gen. Obasanjo toThe Hague. She was also overseeing the rehabilitation of the new building at the site to the displaced unfortunate people. So why is she blaming President Jonathan and the Senate? It just does not add up. If any Nigerian or Bakassi disagrees, please school us further. But documents on this issue are available in news rooms all around the country.

Moving forward, if we look at the map, the border lines are negotiable. I wonder if the option of the Nigerian government buying the Bakassi peninsular from the Cameroonian government is possible, especially if we give them a good offer...

UK Police vs. Nigerian Police

So, Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell, of 10 Downing Street, used an inappropriate word to refer to the police guarding 10 Downing Street (Prime Minister David Cameron's seat of abode, comparable to Nigeria's Aso Rock). He is currently being pressurized to resign for his untoward behaviour.

Meanwhile in our beloved country, I have witnessed a high ranking government official konking his police orderly for forgetting to direct the driver to his destination. We continue to see police officers carrying bags for madam and water for oga. This needs to stop. It is not only an insult to our police force, but an insult to our nation. Nigerians should not sit back and shake their heads. This is absolutely wrong, wrong, wrong.

The State of Abuja "National Church"

It is such a shame to drive through Central Area and see the disgraceful, dilapidated, almost-falling-apart roof and building "for God."

And we have a flamboyant, quick to react CAN president. I wish all the pastors could bring all the offering that is meant for the Lord to get the church fixed. It is definitely a minus for them all. God is sure watching. I rest my case.

* Note: This picture is only a depiction of the construction. Despite the fact that it was (relatively) recently constructed, the roof of the church is currently abysmal. (Source: Flickr)
