Bakassi Palavar

It beats me, and I am worried when I hear Sen. Ita-Giwa ranting about "my Bakassi people."

I am an ardent follower of events and history and I remember during the heat of the Bakassi issue, Ita Giwa was a senator and theatafter an advisor to Gen. Obasanjo. If she could not do anything then why now? We also remember vividly that she was with the delegation that accompanied Gen. Obasanjo toThe Hague. She was also overseeing the rehabilitation of the new building at the site to the displaced unfortunate people. So why is she blaming President Jonathan and the Senate? It just does not add up. If any Nigerian or Bakassi disagrees, please school us further. But documents on this issue are available in news rooms all around the country.

Moving forward, if we look at the map, the border lines are negotiable. I wonder if the option of the Nigerian government buying the Bakassi peninsular from the Cameroonian government is possible, especially if we give them a good offer...
